EMERGENCY PROCEDURES MANUAL

BOMB THREATS

Every call of this type will be considered a serious threat, and will NEVER to be treated as a false alarm. However, usually they are meant only to disrupt the normal routine.

When a call is received, please remember the following procedure:

  1. 1. Keep the caller on the line as long as possible

    • Listen for any background noises that might help in determining where the call originated from
    • Listen for distinct qualities in the caller's voice
    • Obtain as much information from the caller as possible, such as:
      1. Location of the bomb
      2. Time of detonation
      3. Outside appearance or description of the bomb
      4. Reason for planting the bomb

2. At the conclusion of the call, immediately report the call to the Building Management Office and provide as much information as you can. (After normal business hours, the voice mail system will direct you to the security desk). He/she will take the information and call the authorities, and the Building Manager.

3. Notify your supervisor about the "Bomb Threat Call". Important - If you determine that your employees and visitors are in immediate danger, and you have not been advised of an evacuation route, you may exercise your own judgement, and move or evacuate your personnel without notification from the Building Management Office.
