EVACUATIONS

An audible alarm and evacuation message will be heard over the Emergency Announcement Intercom. If possible, listen to the building intercom for all instructions before evacuating. When the order for building evacuation has been given by the Building Manager, Fire Department, or their appointed representatives, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Quietly proceed to the nearest stairwell, (marked "A" or "B"). (REMEMBER: Elevators will be used for evacuation only by orders from the Corpus Christi Fire Department). The Tenant Contact or his assistant should inform all personnel in their area as to which stairwell to evacuate and should remain behind until all personnel have left the area. They should account for all personnel prior to leaving their floor. Handicapped or physically challenged individuals should be taken to the stairwell landing and their whereabouts should immediately be passed onto building management personnel or fire department officials. Please review the two evacuation diagrams for the most applicable evacuation route.

  2. When evacuation is complete, assemble and account for all your personnel by checking for:
    1. Total number of employees & visitors moved or evacuated.
    2. Inform the fire department or building management personnel the names of the missing persons.
    3. Write a brief report covering your actions in response to the emergency, including any special problems or incidents that you encountered, and submit it as soon as possible to the Building Management Office.
    4. Building management personnel or fire department officials will inform you as to when it is safe to enter the building.
